Presented by Anne Margret Millar
Follow one girl’s search for love in 1930’s Paris as she falls from follies, faux pas and wicked, dark humour into delusion and denial. Through songs of iconic Cabaret divas, she carries us out of the dark and into mastery of self, life and love.
Through the lost songs of Parisian Cabaret divas Yvette Guilbert, Marie Dubas, and Eliane Embrun, together with The Great Piaf and Eartha Kitt, and composers Weill, Poulenc, and Eric Satie, we evoke the unique visual and musical intensity of 1930's Paris through one girl's desperate search for love.
Her journey will be one of faux pas and follies, false starts and missteps, from wicked, dark humour to raw, unfettered anguish. In this new cabaret Illusions - a French Cabaret, a one woman show written and performed by Anne Millar, with David Wickham on piano and Matt Reuben James Ward directing, she moves through her vulnerability and the pain of self delusion to find her way out of the dark and into mastery of self, life and love
