Introduction to Improvisation - Free workshop

1 July 2023 His Majesty's Theatre, Downstairs at The Maj

Presented by Perth International Cabaret Festival. Supported by the Arts and Culture Trust

For some people the idea of improvising a song, the words or music fills them with horror. But we are ALL born improvisers - we do it every day when we start a conversation we haven’t planned.

In a fun, low stress environment, UK Cabaret genius (An Evening Without Kate Bush) Sarah-Louise Young, introduces the basics of improv and demonstrates how through rhythm and voice we can unlock our potential to perform without the safety net of a script, speech notes or direction. Saying yes to other people’s ideas, building stories together and sharing the joy of making it up as we go along; all feature in this fun and accessible workshop.

From artists of all abilities, to people with public speaking roles or those wanting to learn how to improve their general ‘on-the-spot’ communication, all will learn what to do when the spotlight is suddenly focussed on you.

This event is free. To register, please email indulge@perthcabaret.com.au

This event is is made possible by funding provided by the CBD Revitalisation Grant Program, Lotterywest and the City of Perth.
