Presented by Perth Festival

A stunning new dance work that embodies the currents of the ocean.

Spanning 100 years of experiences within Broome’s pearling industry, Mutiara is a celebration of the unsung bond between seafaring Malay peoples and First Peoples of the Kimberley in the face of exploitation and cruelty.

Much loved dance theatre company Marrugeku’s transformative and unwavering dance language has been celebrated around the nation and the globe. This latest work reveals the resilience, love, strength and stories of ancestors. Bones speak, ancestral beings feud, seas change and deep beneath the surface the diver yearns for home in this intercultural dance and visual art work of rare beauty.
