Presented by Albany Contemporary Dance
In 2026, Albany’s Bicentenary year, we have been reflecting on our heritage while celebrating the vibrant dance culture that envelops our studio today.
Our own journey began when Albany Contemporary Dance opened its doors ten years ago. From those humble beginnings, our studio has grown into a vibrant community of dancers, connected by a shared love of movement, music and creativity.
Our concert, Shine the Light, takes you on a journey through our heritage — from dances inspired by traditional ballets such as Swan Lake, through to the energy and creativity of contemporary dance, hip hop, and today’s popular music.
We celebrate dancers at every stage of their journey. Our littlest dancers will delight us with their newly learned steps and growing confidence, while our grand masters share the experience, passion and life stories gathered through many years of learning and dancing. In between, we have emerging dancers ready to spread their wings, find their own voices, and share with us their vision for the future of dance.
We invite you to enjoy the journey, celebrate our dancers, and shine the light on the joy of dance.
