Perth Concert Hall redevelopment main works contract awarded

The redevelopment of the iconic Perth Concert Hall has achieved a significant milestone with the main works awarded to ADCO Constructions.

Main works start early 2026, paving the way for a new chapter for Perth's home of music and entertainment.

This year essential structural work was undertaken on the building and from early 2026, the redevelopment enters its next phase as major works begin to restore and rejuvenate the heritage-listed venue.

The main works package includes the redevelopment of the existing building, including new public internal spaces and foyers, new food and beverage outlets, upgraded backstage facilities and storage, new West Australian Symphony Orchestra administration, rehearsal rooms and instrument storage, new auditorium seating, and the redevelopment of the northern forecourt and landscaping.

The revitalisation works will ensure the preservation of the venue's distinctive character and world-class acoustics.

Originally designed by architects Jeffrey Howlett and Don Bailey, the venue was the first concert hall to be built in Australia after World War II, with its doors opening to the public on 26 January 1973.
