There are bad days and there are bad days. And then there are very, very, very bad days.
Pete’s been dumped. Days before the wedding, his fiancée calls him “a robot”, and bails for a new lover.
So, he does what anyone would do: turns to AI for advice. “The best revenge is living well,” it replies in all of 1.49 seconds.
So Pete - the hapless, the loser, the schmuck - does just that. Tries to live well. If only it were that simple.
What follows is a spiral of outrageous encounters, disastrous own-goals, and spectacular bad luck, as Pete stumbles through a world that seems determined to leave him behind.
Unravelling in 45 chapters, Will O’Mahony’s darkly hilarious new work asks: What happens when the world moves faster than our legs can run? If you’ve been kicked off the bus of life, is there any chance of climbing back on?
And is it possible our AI overlords are among us, hiding in plain sight?
