Kate takes the folk music that was the first love of her songwriting youth, and refracts it through a darker, more experienced lens, to focus on the ills - and the hopes - of the modern world.
The Kiss and The Abyss is a meditation on the Internet age - its distortions, seductions, and impact on our humanity. Old-world instrumentation and mythological imagery collide with distinctly modern anxieties, creating a work that is both timeless and sharply of the moment, reflecting the emotional and ideological battlegrounds of contemporary life.
