It will be 50 years since Ralph McTell, the iconic 'Streets of London' singer-songwriter, first toured Australia. Returning for one final farewell tour, this UK musical legend will perform much-loved work from his illustrious six decade career, armed simply with his songs, his guitar and his stories.
Audiences all over the world are still drawn to his timeless classic 'Streets of London' which catapulted him to global fame. The melodic beauty and cold hard truth of the song keeps it, sadly, forever relevant.
An accomplished raconteur, McTell also tells incredible life stories. From hitch hiking with Rod, ‘The Mod’ Stewart, playing the Isle of Wight Festival alongside Jimi Hendrix and Sly Stone and a crap game with Tom Waits in LA, to his Ivor Novello award, an impromptu meeting with the President of Ireland and a trip to the BBC show The Repair Shop with a somewhat ragged kangaroo.
With a life’s worth of writing to choose from, McTell’s audience will be treated to not simply an autobiography of songs and stories, but a reflection of an epoque from a quintessentially English singer songwriter.
Prepare to be enthralled!
