A breathtaking world of memory, love and loss.
Step inside Mario Banushi’s family restaurant, Taverna Miresia, where memories surface, ghosts linger and grief takes unexpected forms.
After the death of his father, the cook and heart of the family taverna, Mario turns to his Albanian childhood. Here, everyday rituals slip into surreal dreamscapes, as the boundaries between reality and imagination begin to dissolve.
Wordless and visually stunning, Taverna Miresia unfolds through striking images and the haunting voice of Greek singer Savina Yannatou. Part theatre, part dream, it is an intimate journey through family, loss and all that remains unsaid.
Recently awarded the Silver Lion at the Venice Biennale, Mario Banushi is one of European theatre’s most exciting young artists. Intimate, unsettling and deeply moving, Taverna Miresia is ultimately an act of love, a son’s profound farewell to his father.
