Information for Event Organisers


The Perth Cultural Centre is ideally positioned between Perth’s central city and vibrant inner-city districts with some 35,000 people wandering through the space each day. It has become a vibrant and attractive destination for a range of major events throughout the year with some of its most memorable including Fringe World, Perth International Arts Festival and Winterland.

Major State cultural and learning institutions are housed in the Perth Cultural Centre, while the public open space forms a pedestrian link between the Perth Train Station and the inner city area of Northbridge.

With features including landscaped zones, seating, cafes, a playground, a permaculture garden and a large LED screen, the Perth Cultural Centre is a popular location to stage events and offers a range of locations to suit.

The application process

You will need to submit an event application to us if you'd like to hold an event at Perth Cultural Centre. There's several steps you will need to complete before receiving approval and depending on your event there could be other requirements:

  1. Investigate the suitability of your event and available dates.
  2. Conduct a site visit.
  3. Submit a signed Application for an Event License and application fee.
  4. Put in place all relevant insurances.
  5. Provide appropriate plans and procedures including site plans, risk management and event running sheets.
  6. Obtain third party approvals and licenses.
  7. Finalise event hire fees and bonds.

Once you've completed these steps, your application will be evaluated and if successful, we will issue you an Event License. Please refer to the Venue Hire Policy here

Seeking approval

To apply for a Perth Cultural Centre Event License your event must comply with a number of thresholds:

  • Operate between 7am and midnight, any day of the week.
  • Bump in to occur after 5.30am on the first day of set up.
  • Bump out to occur by 1.00am on the last day of the event.
  • Planned attendance to be no more than 4,000 people per day.
  • Events, excluding exhibitions or installations, are to run for not more than 21 days.
  • Exhibitions or installations shall not exceed 60 days duration.
  • Events must not prevent access into or through the public realm, unreasonably block or restrict access to buildings or cause undue disruption.
  • Events must comply with the permitted noise emission limits specified under the Environmental Protection Noise Regulations.
  • Event holders must seek relevant health and building regulation approvals from City of Perth Approval Services.

Events falling outside these thresholds may be required to submit a Development Application with the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority Planning team and this process requires a minimum of six months’ lead time.

Additionally, you may be required to secure various approvals, licences and services for your event in addition to submitting an application to us. Liaison with the City of Perth’s Environmental Health Officer (Events) is an essential part of the process.
