Operation:Orfeo is a hypnotic reimagining of the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, told through extraordinary voices, light, architecture and illusion.

First seen in Australia in 1997, it has become a landmark of contemporary performance. Now, nearly three decades later, the work returns as part of a major retrospective celebrating the legacy of visionary director Kirsten Dehlholm.

In 2027, the production features the Latvian Radio Choir performing Ib Michael’s sensuous libretto as symphonic a cappella singing, alongside music by Bo Holten, with excerpts from John Cage and Christoph Willibald Gluck. 

Part opera, part visual artwork, Operation:Orfeo is a striking exploration of love, death, memory and the limits of perception – and a spellbinding example of Hotel Pro Forma’s fusion of visual art, music and performance.
